Thanks anyway for trying, Lynda. My George Roper is an elusive character! I guess that being a painter he moved around a lot for work. Maybe he also had an aversion to officialdom, as I haven't found his birth or marriage registration yet! I'll have to have another think... Thanks too, for trying to send the 1861 image... sorry if it's turned out to be a real pain! Don't worry if it's too difficult, Regards Richard in Oz |

Hi Lynda, Would you be able to find Edmonton, Middlesex on your London Census for 1871? If you can, I need to locate an EDWIN D. GUDGEON, born in Edmonton 1859-ish and so probably would have been 12 in the 1871 Census. The address he could have been living in at the time would be The Green, Edmonton, Middx. If Edmonton isn't listed that's okay. It's just confusing where London stops and starts in those days! Thanks for your help and time! Jill |

Hi Please could you find any information on William Edgar Potter who was a carpenter. I know he was from London and he certainly had one son in 1878 but that is it. |

Hi Lynda You are a Star!!! Many thanks again, if there is anything you ever need looking up in Essex let me know and i will be more than happy to do it. I go to the Essex Record Office when i have gathered enough info on the hubby's family, I have actually done some lookups for other people today while i was there. I am going to order a birth certificate from 1861 tomorrow and hopefully will provide me with an address to search for John's brother. Many Many Thanks Lynda Sharon |

Hi Lynda Following the Success of actually finding one of my Ringrow's last night, could you possibly lookup one more address for me please. I have this address off a birth certificate for a William Ringrow born November 1870. The address is 3 Westover Street, Mile End. I have actually found it on an old map now and is quite near St Dunstans so will probably come under Stepney. It runs parallel with Howard St and Westover Street then meets up with Ocean Street. Finger Crossed!!! Many Thanks Sharon |

Hi Lynda I don't think that the "Philpos" family in Rollo St is the Phillips that I'm looking for. My Phillips family were at that address by 1881, but in 1856 they were at 31 Great Wild St, South St Giles - could you possibly check that address too in 1871 (or even 1861)? Looking for head George, wife Elizabeth, son Frederick. Tugela Rd is from the 1881 transcription - probably it's been mistranscribed. Will check the image of the page and see if I can work out what it should be. Thanks once again, Richard |

Thanks Linda - don't think they are related. They lived in Broadwall after that in the next year, so maybe they had already moved when the census was taken. Sam |

HI Lynda If you are able to search just on names, could you please look for George Searles or Searls and his wife who is either Eliza M or Mary Ann. Unfortunately we have no idea where they could be living. Thanks, Graham |

Lynda - thanks anyway for trying. The Ropers were definitely in London by 1875, but I just realised that the child born that year was born in Paddington, not Battersea (the first ref I have for them being in Battersea was in 1881 census). If by chance they pop up in the names index for Paddington area in 1871, would be most interested, otherwise I'll have to get the birth cert for the child born in 1875 & hope that it has an address (in which case, I'll bug you again!). Could you also possibly check another couple of Battersea addresses: 45 Tugela Rd - looking for Richards family, and 23 Rollo St - looking for Phillips. Regards, Richard |

Hi Lynda Does the London 1871 cover Battersea? If so, can you look up George & Sarah Roper, who were at 11 Latchmere Rd, Battersea in 1881. In 1871, the details should be: George Roper, 30, painter, Norwich Sarah Roper, wife, 31, Norwich Sarah Roper, daughter, 7, Norwich Richard Roper, son, 5, Norwich Many thanks, Richard |

Ann/Lynda, Sorry to butt in again, but a lot of my family lived in and around Latimer Road. I'm sure it registers in Kensington and there is (or was) also a Latymer House in the road. It was definitely called Latimer Road by 1862. Hope this helps, Rick. |
