Tracy. Could I ask you for another lookup on the 1901 census please. Thomas James Lacey aged 62 occupation Undertaker. Living in Camberwell. I think he was a widower by then. Also, what information would I have to have to find anything on Alfred John Clouder born 1862 in Whitechapel? I have nothing on him in 1871 or 1881. He was I think living in Surrey at these times. Could you possibly check the 1871 on Ancestry for me. Sorry that is two requests. Much appreciated. Thank you again SUE.

He may have had some family born in Lambeth and that's the closest in age, but I'm still not sure. Don't suppose there are any with the details I gave but living in Worcestershire?

Tracy, This is the problem! I know that his fathers name was Thomas Jones, and that in 1876 he got married in Lower Mitton, Worcestershire, giving his age as 29. On later censuses he gives his birthplace as Reading. But.. I can't find any Henry Jones on earlier records that fits in with that information so I am wondering if he lied about his age, or if Reading was only the area he was born in as smaller place names may not have meant much to people in a different part of the country. Someone kindly found me details of the only similar family on the 1851 Berkshire, so it is the Henry from that family that I am trying to trace later on to see if he could be the same person. I thought that if you could find him still unmarried in 1871 then he might be the one, or if he is married at least I can rule him out. I know I'm making it very complicated, but I'm getting desperate to trace him. I don't think I will have done very well if I've hit a brick wall in 1876!!

OKaaaay.. so Henry was born when??

sorry.. according to his marriage certificate about 1846. the one from the 1851 census would have been born about 1838.
