Kal, Can you please help? My grandfathers name was Josiah (or Joseph) Fox, born 1898, his siblings surnames were Moody or Doyle, I do not know his mothers name, but I think his father may have been another Josiah or Joseph Fox or Doyle. My grandmother name was Ellen (nee mcardle) and they married in 1922 at the chruch of the most holy sacrement. I am really frustrated as I cannot trace my famly tree any further at the moment so any thing would be very helpful. Thank you Suzanne

Suzanne sweetheart, I'm afraid i can't really help you on this one, the discs i have are for 1841, 1851, and 1861 for coventry. You say your grandparents were married in 1922, do you have their marriage certificate, it would have their ages on it, and also their fathers names. If you havn't you need to send for this, and try working your way backwards. You also say that your grandfather Josiah or Joseph Fox had siblings by the name of moody or doyle, (did they have different parents as siblings (as siblings are brothers or sisters) should have the same surname as your grandfather) ? If i can help i will, but there is not enough information for me to go on. Kindest regards Kal

Hello again Kal, I don't know if you remember, but back when this thread started I asked if you could trace a Joseph Henry Birch, born Foleshill, Coventry c1857. I am working on a slightly different tack now, I am wondering if his mother was Jane Birch who married Edward Lingwood in 1858 - any chance of you looking at the 1861 census for me to see if they are living in or around Coventry. Hello yvonne, Does this mean you are unsure who josephs parants are, as before you said parents are Thomas and Elizabeth, lol. There are actually 3 Joseph Birch's on the 1861. Joseph Birch age 3, born coventry, son of William and mary ann. Joseph Birch age 2, born coventry, son of Edward and Ann. Regarding Joseph Henry Birch, I don't think I really know what I am looking for any more. I was working on the idea that JH was not actually the son of Thomas and Elizabeth, although he is named as such on all documents I have - Census, marriage and death certificates - but that he might be their grandson, and as they had a daughter, Jane who was 20 years older than JH I did wonder.........well you know how your mind wanders when you have a problem. I got quite excited when I found that Jane and her husband Edward had a son called Joseph Henry, but deflated when I discovered he died in 1865 at the age of 5 months. Could you please have a look for Jane and her husband Edward Lingwood in Coventry in 1861, just to see if they do have any children, they were married in 1858 and would be in their early 20s. I think I am starting to get dizzy with this one now!! Regards Yvonne

Hi Kal, I'm trying to tie a family together and thought that you maybe able to help me with the 1841 census (1851 ?). I have Mary Ann Strong marriage cert (1859 Gagan) with her father named as James Strong (deceased). The IGI has an Ann Strong, christened in 1838, with parents James and Elizabeth Strong, also have a marriage between James and Elizabeth (Bayliss) in 1833 in Corley. Does this make sense ?? I think I need '41, '51 census for Strong family and a long shot '41 for Bayliss, Corley. The marriage cert also says that Mary Ann lived Old Yard. Hope you can understand this lol. Also hope you are keeping well, Kaye.
