Hi, do you have access to USA census on ancestry. If so would it be possible to have a look for John Gurr b 1808 Staplehurst area of Kent. Not sure when he went to america but apparently he was trained as a cobbler by Staplehurst parish council then shipped out because he was a pauper. Life is hard but seemed tougher then!!! Would like to confirm his parents really. Dont suppose the census would really help with that. Thanks Gloria

Shirley Sorry not a lot of use to you am I. Cannot find a marriage between Mr Smith and miss Harrison in Cardiff between 1900 and 1906 on Ancestry. Unfortunately looks like you will have to resort to 1837 online. Mary

Noreen, I am happy to do a look up for you BUT I need a bit more info ,just a name and a date of birth is not enough to get a reliable result. It would be good if you knew the location(county will do )of where he was born and similar for where he was likely to be living if not the same as place of birth. With a name like Davis there are likely to be dozens of hits without at least a birth area or possible area of residence. Help me to help you. Mary

Elaine Sorry no sign of Edward Beaumont,if his son was married in 1844 I would think he would be deceased by 1871,at a rough guess he would be at least 75ish.Have you tried looking for his death? Regards Mary

Hello Mary Please can you do a lookup for a marriage in Cardiff in early 1900s? Frederick James Smith born Monmouthshire and Mabel Florence Harrison. Thank You Shirley

Diane Report 3 Oct 2004 10:47

Mary, Not sure if your offer of look ups is still open, if not don't worry. You found some great info for me on Richard James & Elizabeth Grafton in Lyneham/Churchill/Sarsden area on the 1861 & 1871 census. Have now got Elizabeths parents marriage certificate, James Grafton & Susannah Pratt who maried 31/12/1842 in Chadlington, & which state their fathers as George Grafton & William Pratt. Could you possibly look at 1841 census & see if you can find either James or Susannah at home with their parents/family? Thanks Di
