Thanks so much for the offer. This could be the breakthrough I'm lookng for! Sadly, I'm after SMITH! Annie SMITH was born in Gloucester or Bedfordshire (different on two marriage certs!) to George SMITH, a labourer, and Elizabeth DUDLEY, around 1850. A search of the IGI shows a possible family in Woodchester, Gloucester. They had other children including Charlotte and Henry - our Annie named one son Charles Henry, so I'm hopeful this could be the one. Annie emigrated to New Zealand as a servant, and married Isaac BRIDGES in Timaru in 1870 before settling in Christchurch. I do hope you can find some sign for me in those two censuses! would be grateful for any info on a family by the name od McIlvride on the 1851 census, and possibly 1861 also. This surname has many variant spellings. Family are John, b.1813 in Scotland, bookbinder Ann, 1819, Scotland, Annabella, 1839, Scotland, Duncan, 1841, Scotland, John, 1848, Gloucester, William, 1852, Gloucester, Thomas, 1856, Gloucester, Matilda, c1846, unsure if Scotland or Gloucester.
