Hi, this is my first time so I hope I give you the right info, here goes. trying to trace any tancocks in the exeter area, grandfather was illegitamate and lived with the james family in st thomas. also brooks, my dads, dad was married twice we think and originally lived in old countess wear but then moved to topsham with his son who was called tiger brooks (bert with his wife ethel and daughter hazel. my dad is 74 so his father must have been born approx 1900ish his wife was mabel (nee Bennitto) i have not been able to trace this surname at all, she came from St Austell originally and all we know is that she had a sister down their called maud. Any help or advise would be greatly appreciated as I am really getting the bug with all this now. thanks Sue, Exeter

Hi Sally Is it possible for you to look up a George Gibson in the 1851 Census, he was born in abt 1829 he would of been about 22years old. I think he may have had a sister called Emma. I have information on him from the 1871, 1881, 1901 census but of course he was married by then his first child was born in 1858. Thanks a lot Tina
