Debora I just had a quick look on Ancestry BMD and there is a Gertrude Agnes Yates who was born in 1900 in Belper district (which does cover Smalley). I cannot find any deaths that could be her though.

Thanks anyway Margaret.... I have found a John Derbyshire Christened in Ringway, Cheshire 1845 - Father was James derbyshire and Mother Hannah. The thing is I have have found John Derbyshire born Runcorn, Cheshire 1844. I suppose its possible to have been Christened in another town, mabe they moved due to work for a short while, but its a longshot as the family have been found in Runcorn throughout the generations. Runcorn is nearer to Liverpool while Ringway is nearer to Manchester, its not as if it was just down the road. I think I am going to have to wait for the certificate.... how exasperating!
