Hi Zoe I’m sorry but the LMA is for London records. You would need Kent for Deal. Have you tried freebmd for the 1839 ish birth ? The same thing for the marriage you’d like, the best place to try is freebmd or 1837online, but you need to buy credits for that. The records at the LMA are not name indexed. Hi Sandra Have you tried the family search site for your William Henry Beard. Middlesex covered such a vast area and the info you have at the moment is a bit vague. With regard to whether a person working in a workhouse lived in or out, I’m not sure where you’d find this information. It might possibly be listed in the records of the workhouse in question. If you google Victorian London Cemeteries you'll find a very helpful site called God's Acre. It explains a bit about burials in the various parishes. Joan x

Hi Joan. I have been to the LMA, but I didn't understand the place. I'm trying to find any information regarding my GG/Grandfather. He was William Miles. according to the London Census of 1851, He was born in Lambeth about 1803, and was residing in the Vauxhall Walk area. The family stayed in that area for the later part of the 19th Century, so he could well have been there in 1803. He Married Amelia Marsh, probably in the 1820/30s, and they had a child called Sarah about 1840. I've been unable to find any information on any of them, and have really hit a brick wall. Hi Teresa I’ve not seen all the info you mentioned in a creed register. But that doesn’t mean that it isn’t included in some. I just looked at the LMA site and the creed registers are listed on a yearly basis, where they have survived, so you would need to know the date of admission. You would also need to know which institution the person was admitted to. I looked at a creed register for someone in the absence of admission & discharge registers for a particular time and all I found were names and religion. It may differ from parish to parish. Joan x

I am also interested in Henry Twyman b -1869 St Pancras, Middlesex, London. I wondered if you could find a marriage of his after 1893. His first wife died giving birth that year but I know he re-married but cant find when. Thanks so much Zoe

Hi Kim I'm sorry but I don't have access to birth certificates. I'm afraid the only way is to find out the details they contain is to obtain the actual certificate. Joan x

Hi Joan I'm so sorry, I have only just spotted your e-mail, my kids tend to click them open when they are on the pc!!!!! I can't thank you enough for taking the time to look for me, and it was a tough job! At least I can rule those churches in Islington out now, maybe she was baptised in an non-conformist church, or maybe not even baptised at all. Thank you for the other Homer information, it may well come in handy, as there is a coach connection, and you did answer another query of mine on another quest, as to where St Lukes is, as I had an idea it was in Islington, but wasn't sure. Hi Joan, Thanks for the offer of look ups. I am not entirely sure that I have the right area for this but this is what I have. I am looking for two brothers Charles Frederick Williams born C1854 in Bethnall Green, London and William Joseph Williams born c1850 in St Mary Le Strand, City of London. I have managed to obtain births for both of their elder brother and sister but not these two. I have already sent for three certs from details obtained from BMD which have been the wrong ones (with a name like Williams it is difficult) and have now found another couple of reference on Ancestry which I would be grateful if you could look at for me to see the parents are William Williams and Martha Williams nee Spendelow before I request yet more certificate. The details are: Charles Frederick Williams, March quatre, 1853, Bethnall Green, Greater London, Middlesex, Volume 1c, Page 239. There are no William Joseph's but these are the nearest William Williams June quatre 1849, Marylebone, London or March quatre 1850, Marylebone, London. If this is too much trouble please don't worry. His father may have also been a William Hutchinson. In the census' the Hutchinson surbame has had many different spelling - Hutcherson, Huchingson, Hutchingson and Hutchison. kind regards Denise
