Karen: Closest record I could find on the 1850 was for a Lydia Ludy born about 1843 in Philadelphia. I guess Langhorne was part of Philadelphia Co back then because now it's part of Bucks County. I'll save the record if you would like to see it. Just need your email address. I'll look for Emma Holt. Rose

Thanks Rose for your help. No i do not have John Carpenters date of birth. Or the boys names unfortunatley all my fathers elderly relatives have all passed away. My Great Great Auntie who kept in touch with them died a couple of years ago and was not of sound mind towards the end. My Dads cousin seems to think it was in the 30s that she went to America but he says he could be mistaken So once again thank you for your kindness Thanks Karen

Allen, I found a James Hume on the 1910 US census b 1883 in England. Living in San Francisco, boarder, occ: Carpenter. Immigrated 1906 which is probably too early. The only other records I saw were on the Ellis Island site. There are several records for James Hume during the early 1920's who is a member of the passenger ship crew. He is married and would be the right age. Is it possible he fought and died in WW1? He might have gone to Australia. I know there is a few people on GR who have access to various records for Australia. Sorry I couldn't be more help. Rose

Becky, Did William come over with his family? I saw a William Sparks on the 1861 born 1854 in Birmingham, living in Birmingham, parents were Charles and Ann. Is this the right William Sparks? He is not appearing on the 1881 or 1901 Canadian Census in Ontario or any other Province. Email me about his family members. Rose
