Place of birth details aren't always accurate on census returns - often the person speaking to the enumerator would not know exactly where their partner was born, so would give the place they were presently living or the place they themselves were born. Ages were often different too, and marital status is a lucky dip! |

John Henry Hall married to Lillian Hall All I know is that they had their first child Alice Lillian Hall on June 4th 1892 in Cheltenham. Then 3 other children Winifred Edith, Walter and Cyril. dates of those not known. They eventually moved to Glenroy Street Cardiff date again unknown. I believe that John Henry had a relative that was Mayor of Cheltenham. Thanks so much for the kind offer of census look ups I would be so grateful for any help at all. |

Hi Sarah Many apologies, I must have been mistaken. I was expecting to see Sarah's mother as Margaret A Blackburn and father as James, although he was a sailor and maybe not in the household. Margaret and Sarah were both born in South Shields and still there in 1901. Any suggestions? Really sorry for the wild goose chase Gordon |

Just did a search for Margaret A Blackburn and she appears to be a living with her sister: Blackburn, Margaret A 27 South Shields, Durham Head Westoe Durham Mcmain, Sarah 23 South Shields, Durham Sister Westoe Durham no sign of Sarah other than the one I posted - how certain are you about the relationships? Is it possible she was raised by her aunt & uncle/other relatives while her father was away? |

Hi Sarah Many thanks for your assistance. In 1901 I have Margaret A Blackburn, married, head, 40, born South Shields with Sarah Blackburn, daughter, 12, born S.Shields living at 36 Raglan Street, South Shields. I received Sarahs marriage certificate yesterday, which shows her father as James Blackburn, sailor. This is as much info as I have, so thought they must be resident in S. Shields in 1891. Gordon |
