Hi Christopher Really struggling with Mary Madden. Have found her birth but can't find her on the Census. When you say that her family came to Leeds in the 1840's or 1850's where did they come from. I've found a Patrick Madden with wife Ann but no John. Can you get back to me Regards Cheryl

Hi Cheryl, sorry not to have responded earlier have been to Holland from 7 -10 April and only just managed to access a computer in Holland. As for Annie & Mildred Richardson.... Mildred should definately be on 1901 census she went on to give birth to my Grandfather in 1913 in Brentford. So I know she survived childhood, her name was still Mildred Richardson when she married in 1916 so I don't think she changed her name so I think she has been mistranscribed on the 1901 census. Is it possible to do a search on Mildred Rich*** like a wildcard search with her age of 10? Her mother Annie was the only person on Mildred's birth cert in 1890 so I am guessing Richardson was her single and not married name. She should be on the 1871 & 1881 as Annie Richardson. I was guessing Middlesex for the reasons you guessed ie Mildreds birthplace and then later the same birthplace for Mildred's son Leslie. But I said Surrey because Mildred was living in Richmond ,Surrey in the 1891 census and I guessed the mother wouldn't be working to far away also Mildred later moved to Richmond ,Surrey when she married in 1916 so there are two potential Richmond,Surrey connections. But this also does not neccessarily mean she was born in Surrey or Middlesex!!!LOL you know what its like.90% guess work & 10% luck!!!!! Like you she has been bugging me for ages!!!!!! I know Mildred's father was Leslie...... something as she lists him on her marriage cert as Leslie Richardson Father but he was not on her birth cert. And her mother was showing as Richardson so pressumably was unmarried. It is a mystery, I don't know if this helps or not but thanks for trying and anything you find is definately a bonus. many thanks Cheryl Best wishes Jenny

Hi cnheryl - I wonder if you could please help me re. 1871 Census. I already have the following information: Eliza Taylor widow 35 laundress b. Stratford, Essex John 15, James 10, Alice 6 and Alfred 3 - all b. Bow. The address I have is just 'Danbigh Terrace'. I think this might be Denbigh Terrace, or Denbigh Road, Bow. Could you check on this for me, and also tell me what the neighboring streets are so I can find more or less where it was on my map. Many thanks. Doreen Berry.

Cheryl

Cheryl Report 12 Apr 2005 15:59

Hi Doreen It does read Denbigh Terrace. Which covers pages 6 to 10 of the Census. On Page 5 the Street name is Carlisle Terrace. On Page 11 the houses are called Clarrendon Cottages. All in the Parlimentary District off Tower Hamlets. Hope this helps to pinpoint them Regards Cheryl
