Hello, I wondered if you would be kind enough to look up Amy Easter (born approx 1851) and her son Stephen Easter (born 1874) - both born in Herts, on the 1881 and poss 1871 census please. My digging has found that they lived in London, possible Hammersmith or Fulham at this time and possible with a William or a Henry Easter. Any info you have would be fantastic. Many thanks Annabel |

Annabel This one has stumped me. I can find no evidence of either Amy in the 1881 or 1871, nor Stephen in the 1881. I have tried many combinations of searches including. All Easters - none are recorded as being born in Herts. I searched all Stephen's born 1874-1876 for likely mis transcriptions - no joy. Searched all Amy's born c1851 in the 1871/81 - nothing obvious. The only Amy Easter in 1881 & 1871 born around the right time was born and living in Norfolk. Could this be her? Would her name have been Easter ta this time? Sorry Denise |

Thanks Denise for your time and help. I am not surprised to be honest as Amy senior used many a different surname and although she is down as being married on the 1891 census, maybe she didnt marry Amy jnrs father ! Stephen I feel probably had a different birth surname as he was born in Herts before his mother moved to London. I have looked into the Norfolk Amy Easter and unfort she's not mine ! thanks for all your help though, I think I can safely assume Amy senior didnt marry. Kindest regards Annabel |

Dear Jenny Looking for a William Hughes in Wales & England with no dob or pob is like looking for the proverbial needle in a haystack! :) Even when I narrowed the search by just looking for visitors, lodgers or boarders there were still too many. If you can find anything to narrow this down - I will look again. When was there first child born? Would they have been together in 1891? kind regards Denise |

Thanks for such a quick reply. No wonder i keep losing them when they spell their name so many ways! Harriet isn't mine as she married in 1851 to a George Hamer and i'm sorry I shouldn't have included her. Mary may be mine though. Also Charles Robinson perhaps.Sad to think the Elijah was listed as a pauper the year before he died.William ended up as a wealthy jeweller so i'm not sure how he changed from an engine driver!! |
