Hi Stephanie Thanks so much for your offer, how kind. Please could you try to find my grt.grt.grt.grandfather Alexander Swatton. He would have been a labourer ( probably ag.) approx. late 50s-early 60s in age. I think his wife was called Rachel if she was still alive. I think he died 1858 in Pewsey area. Do not know his place of birth, but he lived in collingbourne in the early 1800s. I know the name Swatton is quite common in wiltshire but i have not come across another Alexander in the area as yet. I would be so grateful if you could find him as have hit a brick wall now. Many many thanks Angela Smith

Also John Simpkins born about 1824 in Lydiard. I think that his father may have been a Richard. Any help would be much appreciated. Lisa

Hi Stephanie If you have a nmaed index for this could you look for Charles Welch, have him on 1841 in Mere with wife Martha and daughter Elizabeth and sons William and John. However I believe they could have been two of them with daughter's Elizabeth as otherwise according to Mere Church records he married about 4 times in 6 years and had two daughters called Elizabeth. My Charles Welch age 76 Pensioner of the army with wife Martha and sons William age about 18 and John about 15 not sure if Elizabeth would have married age about 22. Living in Mere. these ages relate to 1851 Is there another Charles Welch with/ without a daughter Elizabeth age about 21 living in Mere. If you do not have a named index please do not worry as know how time consuming it can be, Many thanks Maureen
