Sorry Stephen I may have confused you. My grandmother Ada Mutter was born in 1907 in Liverpool. Her father's sister was also Ada (Catherine) Mutter, born 1867 (I checked the year last night) in Liverpool. The marriage of the older Ada Mutter was the one I was looking for and I'm wondering now if that may have been between the 1881 and the 1891 census. If you could try for Ada again prior to 1891 it would be much appreciated! Sorry to be a pest but accessing English records is much much harder up here in Scotland! Deborah

I also know they had a big family. all in Aberdare, glamorgan. Hi Steve, could you try to find John Guerin for me in the 1861 census. You found the rest of his family for me in Newcastle u Lyme army barracks but he wasn't there. He would have been about 14 (His father joined the army at that age so I suppose John may have also)

Sharon 1837online has images right up to 1983, and since you have the date, it would be only one image to look at. Unfortunately, you have to buy a minimum of £5's worth (at 10p per image, I think). I think the register image shows her mother's maiden name by 1921. Hope this helps. Steve

Debora Are we talking about the same Ada who had her birth registered in 1907? I thought she was born in 1865? Am I right in thinking I'm looking for a marriage after 1891? If so, I've looked for all marriages involving a mutter from 1891 to 1911 and there are no Ada's nor Catherine's. The BMD Database isn't necessarily complete and furthermore mistranscriptions often occur too. So my failure to find it doesn't mean it isn't there. The only way to be sure is to trawl through 1837online records. Sorry Steve
