Morning, Louise. Please could you have a look for a John Howard on the 1861 cencus, b c1837 in Croydon. He would be about 24, he could possibly be living with his wife Elizabeth ? b c1841 in Croydon. (I don't know for sure as i can't find a marriage for them?) If I have the right couple on the 1871? they were living at 2 coleshill terrace Croydon, with what is said to be John's in-laws, name of Baker. Many thanks, Gaynor (again!) :-)

Hi, Louise. Thanks for that! The earlier deaths could well be Grandparents, Uncles etc as there doesn't seem to be that many Sampsons in Croydon. I've found the majority to be from the west country! Hi, Louise. Sorry, i wasn't able to catch you in time! Re Jane Howard, Her husband was William Sampson, they were my Gt Grandparents and I got their names from my Nan's birth certificate - Edith Elizabeth Jane Sampson b 14 june 1903 at 10 bourne street Croydon. Jane's family lived at the same address from 1881 onwards. I can't find anything on william Sampson at all as I don't know where he was Born? I did find a birth for a William Thomas Sampson june 1898 in Croydon Surrey and wondered if he might be their son? as i've been told that my Nan had four brothers Jack, Jim, Bill & Fred. This is so difficult as my nan (edith) died in 1943/4 when my Dad was just a toddler and my Dad died in 1984. Thanks for all your help, it's very much appreciated! Regards, Gaynor.

Hi Gaynor, Its very strange but I can find no trace of her in 1871! I did wonder whether she may have died, poor lamb, as a child but then I discovered a marriage ref which may well be her?
