Hi Lorraine I'm trying to find the THORP(E)s of Layham in Suffolk. John Thorpe (widower as wife died in 1839 and presume he did not remarry) born c.1795. They had 12 children - 1 died young and one was married in 1835 - of the rest some of them must have been with dad in 1841 - Thomas (1813), Henry (1816), John (1821), Caroline (1824), Shadrach (1826), David (1828), Ellena (1830), Sarah Ann (1833) (Sarah may have been from another family with father John Thorpe so not 100% sure about her), Joseph (1834), Emma (1836) If you can find any sign of this family I'd be really really chuffed. Many thanks Jill |

Thanks Lorraine - looks as though it may be my Nurses, although it also poses more questions than it answers - lets say that some of the ages don't fit, but since I know almost all the others in Brightlingsea I can't, at the moment, see who else it could be. Obviously the father is at sea - can't be dead because Frederick is going to be born in 1843/4. Peter in NZ |
