Hi Susie Once again you come up with info that gives me more names to go on, you are a real star. Have just realised, having re-read the thread, that I e-mailed Denise on 25/7 re Harriett Alcock. I s there any sign of Harriett in 1851 or 1861 census? Has Denise asked previously would you remember? Thanks again Bryan

Hi Susie, Don't know if you might be able to help. I am looking for my partners 3xgreat grandparents. I have found his 2 x ggrandfather on the 1861 census with his mother shown as a widow. I have searched FreeBMD for male deaths from the date of the last child’s birth to the 1861 census, and then searched for marriages prior to oldest siblings birth with all the resulting ‘possible’ names and the female name – but I can’t find them, does anyone have any ideas where I might try? His 2 x ggrandfather is WILLIAM HANCOCK, born c.1845 Penn Buckinghamshire. He is shown on the 1861 census with his mother, SARAH, an Infant School Mistress, born c.1825, Penn, Bucks, and two siblings – Chas b.1847, and Catherine b.1851, at Penn, Bucks. I have him on the 1871, 1881 and 1891 census, but cannot find his father’s name anywhere. Thanks Trudy
