Hi Susie, Thanks so much for the look ups - can you tell me which census year they were? Was Bird in Hand a village? Best wishes Sam |

hi sam sorry i forgot to add that it was 1851. the bird in hand is now a pub in the village of west wycombe so i should assume that the bird in hand was a small hamlet but i may be wrong. there seem to be a lot of families giving hteir address as the bird in hand on the census. susie |

Susie My interests are in the MORECRAFT/MOORCRAFT families (spelling varies) in 1841 (I have the later data) There should be 2 or 3 families in Winslow, 1 or 2 in Burnham and 1 (?) in Lane End. (there are others in Wycombe and Amersham but without an index that would be a lot of scanning to do) Thanks Peter |

Susie That was quick. In 1851 one family in Wycombe was at Oxford Rd Lamb Entry, widow Ann 38 and son Alfred, who would have been 7 in 1841. The second family were in Pauls Row in 1851 but the head, George Morecraft would only have been 20 in 1841. There was also another family, Wiliam Morecraft age 50, in Back Moor, Chesham in 1851.
