Hi Do you think you could check a birth for me please? James Brindley was born 1943/1844 Nuneaton Warwickshire. His father was Thomas Brindley. His mother would be either Jane Brindley (nee Smedley) or Mary (nee Waters). I am trying to determine if he is a child of the first or second marriage. |

Lynne Marriage records not that up to date on Ancestry I'm afraid. You'd need to look at 1837 on line to help with that I think. Nikki |

Brian You didn't say which county you wanted me to look in for your family however I've searched Somerset, Gloucestershire, Bristol & Wiltshire for you with no luck. 1861 census shows Margaret as being born in Devon - guess you could try there or they had a son George born 1854 in Fulham, Middlesex. Maybe they'd moved to Middlesex by `51. Sorry I can't help any more. Nikki |

Thanks a lot Nikki, I will have to try and work out if there is a connection to George with what you have found for me, after I had posted my request to you I found George in a boys home in Yorkshire along with a few more boys from Somerset, so it looks as if they had all been sent to Yorkshire to work in the mills as the home was connected to a textile mill, they were all aged 14. Thanks for all your trouble Nikki. Liz.. . . |

Hi Nikki, Thanks for your reply. I'm looking for possible parents or family of William J. Linden who, according to crew lists, was born in Stroud in 1858. I suppose his family may have lived somewhere else in 1851 but I don't know where. Do you have a name index for each county? If so, I would appreciate you having another look. Other possible name variations are LANDEN, LENDEN, LONDON. Sometimes the name is transcribed as SINDEN etc. because the fancy L looks like an S. Many thanks, Lilian |
