Hi, Thank you for your very kind offer. I was wondering if you might be able to find a william MATHESON born abt 1826 in Midlothian, parents William and Elizabeth. I know that he had a sister named Jessie who was born abt 1832 in Midlothian. I do not know anything else, and have hit a brickwall with this family, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Boo |

Hi Dawn, Thankyou for your very kind offer. When you are able to spare a few mins could you please see if you can find The marriage of David LITTLE and his bride Margaret WEIR which took place on 27th November 1825 ( I think) in Sanquhar, Dunfries, Scotland. Sanquhar is a small place which is located on the Western side of Scotland, just above Glasgow, Near Warnock Head (as far as I know - my geography's not too hot !). If you are able to locate these I would be interested in their parents details (plus any other information that's given on the record) and also the children they baptised. These children would have included James LITTLE baptised in Warnhock Head, Sanquhar, Dumfries in 1828. If you have the time I would also be really grateful if you could see if there is a christening for James Bayne possibly in 1802 or possibly 1807. His father was definitely called Alexander BAYNE and his mother's surname was definitely DRUMMOND. However, I'm not sure whether the mother's christian name is AGNES or ISABELLA. Census returns indicate that James BAYNE was born in LENNOXTOWN, Dunbarton which is not too far away from Glasgow ( I think). I did a google search and found that the parish name is probable CAMPSIE, and I also did a Scotlands people search which suggested a baptism for James BAYNE at CAMPSIE in 1802 which I thought was a about 5 years earlier than the ages on census returns and death certificates suggest. |

Hello Dawn I've had no luck so far in tracing my only Scottish relative. He is Bernard Cochrane a soldier born about 1820's. It is very vague info but its all I have. He was posted to Cork,Ireland and then to Woolwich Barracks in Kent before going to fight in the Crimean war where he died in 1854-56 on active duty. Supposedly a Captain by then. Have had no luck finding him on the 1851 census ,he should be in Greenwich/ Woolwich, kent and he was dead by the 1861 leaving behing his widow plus 3 surviving children. Have had no luck with his Army records at Kew. Children: Hannah Cochrane DOB 1852 Woolwich,Kent Alfred Cochrane DOB 1854 Deptford,Kent Sophia Cochrane DOB 1857 New Cross,Surrey or London. There was another child Stanley who died as an infant. Have included childrens names in case of naming patterns in Scotland. Hope you can help. Best wishes Jenny |
