Hi Lesley Can I ask for another favour. Could you look for two baptisms on the Pallots Index. They are Henry Medcraft born around 1830 in Bishopsgate/ Shoreditch, London and Eliza Waller born around 1833 in Ware, Hertfordshire. I probably have more but I thought I better not swamp you as you have tried hard for me on my other request!! Thanks again, Emma |

Hi Lesley I can't say for sure really if this is the right John Grosvenor as the age is out a bit but I am pretty sure that he would be in West Bromwich by the 1871 census. Don't worry it was more of a long shot really. Thanks for looking for me. I really appreciate it. Regards, Emma |

Hi Lesley Thats the right marriage but I am not sure that the birth is right. I think he was born around 1845 but puts his birth down for about 1849 on some census' but sometimes older on other documents. The only thing for definate is that he has always put his name as John Henry Grosvenor although I am definately open to new suggestion. Hopefully the census will bring up something. Thank, Emma |

Hi Lesley This is a tricky one but I was wondering if you could look for a John Henry Grosvenor on the 1861 and 1871 census for me. The tricky part is that other than he says he was born in Birmingham, Warwickshire and his year of birth is somewhere between 1840 and 1850 then I have no other info on him. I know he married in 1875 in Tipton, Dudley,Staffordshire and his place of residence was then down as West Bromwich, Staffordshire. It may be possible that he was living with a William Henry Brookes and William's wife Jane. John puts his father down as William Grosvenor but I am not entirely sure that he was telling the truth. Thats all I have so far on him. I am hoping that some of it may come together but you never know. Thanks again and I hope I haven't confused you! Regards, Emma |

Lesley, the marriage in Wandsworth 1877. Does it give name of wife? Is she an Elizabeth. We think that both father and son (William) married an Elizabeth. Certainly Wm (II), who was mis-transcribed NewLAN was with Elizabeth King on two certs I HOPE are my grandfather and his sister Emily. Jan x |

Grief Lesley, you're on fire today LOL Yes, that is the correct marriage for John - to Theressa Smith 1882. I have that cert. Have been looking for the Newlyn births for almost a year. Cannot find them anywhere. That'll be the breakthrough if I can get just one. Then I'll know the Mum, Elizabeth's maiden name. Really grateful for all your work Lesley. Regards Jan x |

Hi Lesley That was quick. Thank you. I think Woolwich came under Kent, although everything I look at says Gt London Kent. I know 3 of John's children were christened at The Garrison Chapel Woolwich, Kent in the early 1800s also some of the Newlyn's at St. Mary Magdalen, Woolwich Kent, so is it Kent you mean by Parish or the churches? Sorry, not much help!! Jan x |
