Steve, I can take that family back to the 1861 census, but there's not much point if you don't know if he's the right one or not. I don't have access to any Australian records, so I can't help you there. What information do you already possess about this man? Have you applied for the original passenger records? You can do that from Victoria Public Records Office (available online). Have you any information about him after he arrived in Australia, like his marriage certificate or settlement records? |

Hi Tracy I've been trying to find gg grandad for ages. I have the family on the 1861 onwards but he dose'nt appear anywhere. The family name is Stephenson 1861....Plaistow Essex ANN ABT 1829 SHIELDS N'UMBERLAND ROBERT 1849 PLAISTOW (g grandad) ISABELLA 1854 '' WALTER 1857 '' MARGARET 1859 '' By 1871 family moved back up North. I think his name was Walter but until sure and place of birth ect have hit a brick wall. Best Wishes Sue P.S. Am quite new to all of this. |
