Jones was her birth name, her married name was Evans. This is the family in 1881: Yniscedwyn, Lower Ystradgynlais, Breconshire David Evans, 33, Llanguick, head Gwenllian Evans, 30, Cadoxton, wife Sarah Evans, 7, Resolven, daughter Thomas Evans, 6, Resolven, son David Evans, 5, Resolven, son Mary Ann Evans, 2, Resolven, daughter Gwenllian Evans, 4 months, Resolven, daughter Gwenllian junior's birth certificate (12/11/1880) gives her mother as Gwenllian Evans, formerly Jones. I'll take a punt that the first one you found is mine - if she'd lived in Ystradgynlais when she was young that would explain why they moved back there after several years in Resolven. MICHAEL I have just looked at 1881 census so Jones is her married name not birth name.... Just to check I have the right one on 1881 her Husband is David Watkin Jones..is that her? or is it the one Who's husband is William J ?? lesley :~)

Leslie, Thanks very much for those. She claimed to be 30 on the 1881 census but she might have knocked a few years off. It would help if I could get her marriage certificate, which would give her father's name, but I haven't managed to track it down yet. Michael
