ELSIE JONES Hi Elsie I couldn't find anything for a David Ferguson in Craignish during 1838. There were a couple of David's born in that year. If you could let me know what county Craignish is in, I'll have another look for you? Some of my Scottish relatives say they were born in one place but come up in another town just down the road from where they were born, maybe this is the case with David. Dawn :-) |

Hi Dawn can you please point me in the right direction? I have came across some details off a Medieval Scottish Family Hextild, I.E Malcolm,Earl of Athol d.between 1186 and 1198 m 2nd wife Hextilda ,daughter of Waltheof or Uchtred( son of Donald Bane),and Widow of Richard Comyn from this point on there are details of Hextild`s at Roxborough / Kelso /Northumberland /Hexham with a burn running into the River Tyne called Hextall`s, i can not find any connections of Hextall`s History and Hexham Northumberland. I was wondering , no hoping that there may be a connection with the two names Hextild / Hextall .Staffordshire Historical records show details of Hegstils leading to Hextall`s being Lord`s of the Manor . and with connections to Duke of Buckingham/Stafford c1150-1250 I am sorry to say that i have little experience in Genealogy todate but i am trying very hard to learn . I do hope that someone may find a little time to give some help/guidance in my research kind regards Ian James Hextall. Below are so details about myself . My names Ian James Hextall I have been researching my family name Now for some time, I was born in Coalville in Leicestershire 28 June 1953 and I now live in a small town in Scotland called Denny, this is in Stirlingshire. I hope that you do not mind me getting in touch with you through this email Address. I found it on the Internet under the name (Hextall) I am Building up as much interesting information about the name as I can I would like to think that all this information would become a Free reference point for anyone wishing to gain data about their Hextall Family Roots I now have many interesting details about this name going back to the c1200 with around 1300 Hextall family members in my tree so far. I have and do keep in touch With Hextalls from all around the world. A lot of this information is not on any web site and never will be I don't wish anyone To make a financial gain from this data. I spend long hours as you may note from the timing of this email Researching on this hobby/quest. Right to my question I was hoping that you would like to help in acquiring some details that I may add to my research i.e. your family connections, old photos, interesting stories. Did you know we have Royal links with the Tudors family after the Battle of Bosworth, and that there is a c1200 church with beautiful stained glass Windows dedicated to the Hextall family, Hextalls were also Mayors of Dover and lived in Dover Castle. You may wish to ask questions about the Hextall family name. I will do my best to answer all emails that I receive [email protected] I hope that you may spare some time to reply to my email. If you feel that at this time it is not possible that's fine. Would you please perhaps help me with some details of someone that might wish to help with this surname research. Very Kind Regards Ian ------------------------------------------------------------------------- |

Hello Dawn, Thanks for you very generous offer. Very exciting. I have some Scottish ancestors who were married in Victoria, Australia. I would be interested in birth/christening dates for the following: David Milne b ~1836/7 Forfar parents James Milne and Elizabeth (maiden name Yule). Anne or Annie Duff b~ 1847/8 Bonar Bridge, Sutherlandshire? (this is what is says for birth of Anne and David's child as mother's birthplace, but their marraige cert seems to say something else but unreadable) parents Donald Duff and Isabella (?Gunn? - starts with G anyway). If you are able to get any information on the marraiges of the 2 sets of parents at all that would be terrific also. Thank you very much in anticipation, Sarah Australia |

Not to worry then Dawn. Dont know any details. I was searching through Wallis website that lists all the people baptised by their middle names and with McKerrow not being common like Smith I just thought I would give it a go. Turned up quite a few with McKerrow as a middle name so they must have some connection to my tree. The one I asked for was the only one whose parent had a surname McKerow so I was hoping that one would be easier to trace. All the others must have been from a generation or 2 before. Thanks anyway. Merry christmas and a happy new year to you and thanks for all your help this year. GLoria |

Hi Dawn and thank you for your offer! Could you please have a look for a marriage between: John M(a)cFarlane and Jane (Jean) Davie - in Scotland around 1820's - should be in the Dumbarton area. I'd also be interested in the # of children they might have had. I've got an Andrew and an Agnes for them but think their might be more. Thanks so much for your time, Lisa |

Many thanks Dawn, I appreciate that. I'll let my wife know & see where we get to from there- two of them do sound promising. Was there any result on the possible parents of Janet Christie whom I mentioned, born 1781? Many thanks again for your help. |

Hello Dawn, yours is a very generous offer, and I am sure very much appreciated.A friend has asked me to look into his Scottish roots which is an area I have not looked at before. I obviously cannot ask you for loads of searches, so could you advise me what resources you use so I can see if my friend would invest in getting hold of the same if available? Hope that makes sense, I would be grateful for any advice cheers Ronnie |
