Hi Lesley wondering if you can find the births of 2 relatives - John Sutherland - 1844 Houghton Le Spring, Durham, Eng; and - Charles Edward Sutherland 1847 same info as above, Their parents were Alexander Sutherland and Jane Wilson married 1843 at Gateshead Durham. Can you actually see the certificates? I am quite new to this, any information is greatly appreciated, many thanks in advance Sharon

Hi Lesley Hope you are well! Have just chipped a bit off my brick wall, so please could you see if you can find a death for a John Meredith between 1888 - 93 in Denbighshire Wales. He would be in his twenties. I know its a long shot but would be grateful for any info. He isn't on 1891 census but wife (georgina nee Davies) is not down as widow and I have a marriage for them in 1888. Thanks for all your help so far! Cheers Kaz

TRUDY Im sorry I dont know much about Certificates... From reading other threads im sure if Joseph was already dead at the time of George's Marriage it would state it on the certificate... Sorry I couldnt help you find Jospeh & Rebecca's Marriage or deaths. Lesley :~)

hi lesley---- james rigby--- sorry for the confusion ! as far as i know there is no houghton in lancs . my friend tells me james and his wife were both born in blackburn it must be hoghton, that is how it is spelt i used to live near there. brindle is next to hoghton. thanks

LINDA I found this on LDS dont know if its right area though??? I know the spelling is different but Spellings of Surnames often changed. and LDS are not always correct. ALISON Is James's Birth Place Hoghton Or Houghton? I have had a look on 1861 census and it says birth place is Houghton lancs.... I have found 2 James's on LDS site. 1 Born 1801 Hoghton-Brindle Lancs. 1 Born 1800 Houghton Lancs... Lesley :~)

Hi Lesley Wow! Thanks so much - you have found so much info for me. It seems that Joseph and Rebecca must both have died before 1871. I have their son George's marriage cert (1881) and he named Joseph as his father - is it normal for them not to state if the father is deceased as Joseph obviously was at that time ? I already have Joseph and Rebecca Morley's marriage cert but would like to know when they died. Will be back in touch again soon. Regards Trudy

hi lesley---can i pick your brains please - i know you have a lot more experience than me! i am helping a friend in australia who has hit a brick wall.the only info i have is--James Rigby b 1801 Hoghton nr Blackburn Lancs. married Elizabeth b 1803 Livesey Blackburn dont know when. know of 1 son Robert born 1831 and they are on the 1861 census living at 3 Audley St. Blackburn. would love to find date of marriage , Elizabeths maiden name or any info at all on this family. i found a birth for a Robert Rigby but its 1835 in Wheelton(this isnt very far from Hoghton) to parents James Rigby and Elizabeth Gaskell. also found 2 deaths -- Robert Rigby sept 1900 (aged 70)-poss. son and Robert Rigby dec 1873 (aged 71) - poss father. sorry to be vague but thats all i know. grateful for any help thanks
