Hi Tracey, Here's a puzzle for you. The family vanishes! Can you find them? My GGfather and family all seem to disappear from census after 1881 apart from sons Albert Edward, Frederick and Charles in one census each (the first two in Navy). I expect the first two daughters were married by 1891. All in Richmond in 1881 census. William Henry Hutchinson b1834 Crowhurst Sussex (Butler to Lady Frances Dallas in Richmond 1881 census) Louisa Maria Hillyer Groocock b 1843 Melton Mowbray Leics Cook/milliner They married in Manchester Cathedral church 1866 Children: Elizabeth b 1858 Hastings Sussex Emma b 1860 Melton Mowbray Found these two staying with GParents Isaac Groocock in Melton Mowbray William L b 1868 Melton Mowbray Frederick Harry b 1870 Brighton Charles T b 1872 Melton Mowbray Albert Edward b Wellington Northants Mary C b 1877 Wellington Northants Louisa M b 1879 Richmond Middx Last living in Brewers Lane Richmond in 1881 I would have thought that Mary C and Louisa M would be with their parents in 1891. the only other clue I have where they might be is that it was family folklore that the Hutchinsons came from Kent. They got around! regards Graham Hutchinson |

Hi , Tracy , Thanks for your reply ... I'm descended from Henry Taw ,son of Wm and Matilda Taw (people in question ) 1901 Henry and Marion (Hannah Maria actually ) Taw.my gt/grandparents.. Henry was born 1843 in Milton Gravesend Kent.and living in Cottage Row Tower Hamlets... 1891 Has Henry and Maria in St Leonards rd , St Leonards Bromley by Bow. 1881 has Maria ,with her father Peter Bastow in Prospect place Bromley by Bow...husband Henry not to be found anywhere ????? 1871 Maria is in John St Tower hamlets with 2 small children , husband Henry missing again ... I can find no trace of William and Matilda Taw (Henry's parents ) after the 1861 census ...it's like they have disappeared off the face of the earth .. I've been on 1837online , familyrelatives ,freebmd . I can only think they are mistranscribed , although you wouldn't expect that on 1837....am totally at a loss !!! Hope this isn't too long-winded for you Tracy ... many thanks , Joyce |
