I've got an Ebenezer Beattie, age 45, widowed, a Farmer of 250 acres, born Cummertrees, Dumfries, with his 4 daughters (Mary Jane, 17, Janet, 15, Helen 13, Annie 11) and 3 servants. Hello, could you possible do a search for John and Elizabeth Whiteman. I have no idea where in Scotland they lived at this time. John was born in Glasgow but lived in England and Ireland before moving back to Scotland. He would be approx 50 in 1881. I'm not sure how old Elizabeth would be as she was his 2nd wife and at present have no info on her. I don't think they would have any children living with them at this time, but not sure. Hi Patricia Checked deaths on SP. There's just one infant, under a year old, Rose Reilly registered in 1861at Springburn, Glasgow. Mother's surname is Mechan though. Does Springburn match up with where your family were in 1861 or where her mother died? Best of luck with your search. Regards Ellen.

HI Patricia There does not seem to be one who immediately fits. The only Rose A Reilly born in Glasgow 3 yrs +/- 1860 is living with her widowed mother and siblings, so thats not her. There's a Rose Ann Reilly born Hamilton 1858, but she's living with her widowed father, William, a navvy, born Ireland. You give me the impression you have found her father, brother and step siblings, so that can't be her. There's just a few Rose Reillys, but none fit, as they are either living with parents, or the ages are just too far out. Have checked all spelling variations of Reilly/Riley etc. If you give me some of the siblings/fathers details, I might be able to find her - unless of course as you say, she has married already.
