Isobel, I have no way of knowing that. Lena was usually a variant of Helena or Marlene. I suppose it is possible given that Helena could be shortened to Ellen. Do you have their marriage cert? Do you know when they were born? Who was her father? |

Tracey, Okay what I have is this: James Bottrill (circa 1850) could have come from Leicester but could be anywhere was married to Elizabeth Horne (circa 1850). By 1875 I know they were living in Leicester as they had a child then but I can't find anything previous to this. Bottrill may be spelt in a different way I guess? They only had one child called Elizabeth Bottrill - Born 05/06/1875 in Peterston, Leicestershire. That's all I know I'm afraid. R |

Julie, Sarah - looks like 31, but there is a black line through the 1. Definitely 30-something. Edwin - My first thought was 7, but given Williams age, it could be 21. He's a Labourer, so unlikely to be under 15. Lodger Thomas - looks like Rivonal. All the children are sons/daughters of, except Lodger. Address is New Town Source information: HO107/1962 Registration district: Gloucester Sub-registration district: St John the Baptist ED, institution, or vessel: 2b Folio: 353 Page: 53 Ann - definitely looks like 25! and she is his wife. Source information: HO107/1957 Registration district: Thornbury Sub-registration district: Almondsbury ED, institution, or vessel: 9 Folio: 591 Page: 8 |

Tracy, Thank you for your kind offer. Can you tell from your information where Gladys Patricia Gray, born 30th September 1916 was actually born? We think it may have been Wibsey or Bradford, West Yorks. Older siblings were Doris, James, Hilda, Lawrence. Younger brother was Stanley. I am assuming they were born in the same area. Thanks. |
