John, since Annie was from Battersea, Frederick could have been born anywhere. I had a look in 1901 for Fredericks who were Compositers, but there were none. It would take forever to find the right one. Unless this is them.... Shelley, it's well worth it. You can access all the England & Wales censuses from 1851 to 1901, plus various parish records too. |

Hi, I'm looking for the Caton family. I have them in the 1881 census in Thaxted, Essex, and the relative I'm interested in I know married in this home-town area in 1899, but what I'm most interested in is the 1871 census and the 1891 census. I've been looking up Ada Sinclair Caton, born in 1874 in Thaxted. In 1881, she and her mother Eliza Caton (born 1849) are all living at 'Gulps Lane Shed, Thaxted, Essex'. The various other children seem to go back to 1872 with a Herbert W. Caton, up to the youngest in 1879 and a Lilley A. Caton. There is no sign of a man of the house in 1881 - I'm assuming he might have been enumerated elsewhere - he could have died, but I'm hoping they'll all still be in Thaxted in 1871, and should still be there in 1891 too, since my relative Ada Caton married there in 1899 when there was no good reason because her husband is from Folkestone in Kent. Many thanks Michael |
