Margaret, I think they may have gone back to Ireland. I can't find any trace of them. There is a possible Mary - but she's Mary Ann - with a Millward family.

Hello Tracy, thanks for your offer and if you get time I have this family in the 1851 census Thomas Butler born 1806 Head Ireland Margaret Butler born 1813 wife Ireland Bridget Butler born London 1836 daughter Mary Butler born London 1838 daughter Miles Butler born London 1846 The 1851 census says St. Giles Cripplegate Middlesex I know Bridget married in 1853 have her marriage Certificate does not say Thomas Father was deceased in fact he was a Marble finisher. Now this the point I can't find them in the 1861 census when Miles would be about 15 in fact I can't find them after this at all. Althiugh I have found Bridget and her husband. Can't find a birth for Miles death or marriage wondered if you could see them on any other census. I have been wondering if they went back to Ireland. Thank you for any help Margaret

Hi, Can you find a Willy Slack (may come up as William) born abt 1879 in Mansfield/Nottingham area. Been told he was a miner and died at the time of the miners strike. Married to a Rachel (hope thats spelt right) Slack (nee Gruby) born 19/05/1880 same area I think.

June I can't find the births either. They aren't on FreeBMD as those years aren't indexed yet, but they should be on LancashireBMD, and they aren't. Could they have been born somewhere other than Skelmersdale? I can tell you who the Ollertons belong to, if that helps? lol

Paula, Louise was probably from London, but Arthur might not have been. He was a Traveller - meaning he could have been born anywhere. Also, it would only come back if his father is Edward. It may not necessarily be the one in 1901.

Paula, I'd suggest doing a reference check with the GRO on the birth. They will charge 4.50 for it, but at least you can know for certain if it's him. On the check, put Edward as the father.
