Hi Tracy, could I ask for a Surrey '51 look up please? Looking for John Brown and wife Charlotte. Son George was born 1819 so I'm guessing John and Charlotte were probably born before the turn of the century. Thank you, Rebs |

Chris, I found the Charles, Bricklayer, in 1851 but there is no William with him. I've looked for William, but I don't know London very well, so I don't know what might be near Bentley Heath. |

Hi Tracy, Here is a mystery!! I have looked on the 1837 online 1861 census and you can put in a name and all the people with that name -regardless of which county they live in -pop up. Does this happen with all your info( clutching at straws here). You will see why! I have been searching for the birth of William Pearce as probably everyone on GR knows by now!! He is not on family search births, the earliest I have of him is his marriage cert 1855 Northampton when he is 23. (father Charles - bricklayer) He was born in 1831/2. I have him in the 1861/71/81/91/01 censuses but have no trace of him before that. He says he was born in a,Bentley Heath Essex (it was actually in Middlesex)b,Essex, c, London. No one has been able to find him in essex or Bentley Heath or Northampton in 1851 so where was he?? He is not in the Methodist baptism records - someone has just checked for me - His father Charles is no where to be found except there is one Charles Pearce bricklayer inthe 1861census in Marylebone Now is this a mystery or not. I have just about decided that it is completely unsolvable. Do you have any ideas? Love Chris |

Hi Tracey I have recently found out about a daughter that was born to my Great Grandmother from a previous marriage. Her name is Sarah Louisa Wayne. I have found her birth and christening on IGI but her name is spelled Wain. Her birth certificate spells Wayne. She was born 9 December 1872. I cannot find her on 1881 census and at that time she would have been with her mother Lavinia Hanson. She was married 15 February 1894 to John Thomas Penwarden and they both give their age as 21 (not right) and they both lived at 59 Prince Street Portsea. Apparently John Thomas returned to Birmingham a few years later with a Lillian Riding who everone presumed was his wife. It is only now that his family have started their tree that they realise that he was never married to their Grandmother and found out that he was married to Sarah Loiusa. This family have contacted me which is how I found out that Sarah Louisa existed. John thomas apparently went to the post office every week with a money order. They cannot find any trace of Sarah Louisa and they feel that there may well have been children. I know this is a bit confusing but I only found out a few days ago and i am very curious. I wonder if maybe you could check on the census andd see if they are on the 1901 and if there are any children. I have also been told that she may have been in Southampton. Thanking you for your time and patience Claire |
