Thanks Lorraine, The years are all about 1-3 years different from what I have recorded, but it's close enough. Benjamin did have a brother name Joseph, who retired to Bath. What I would really like to know is whether the two of them were born in Bath, Somerset, as I have some indications that they might have been born in Exeter, Devon (and I have a lot more leads to go from there) Did the census forms say whether they were born in the county or not? I know there was 'a' George Stothert who was Ironmonger and passed the compnay on to his sons (The firm Stothert and Pitt still exists and its history says so). I don't know if it the same person though. As for Elizabeth, I know she was alive in 1841, but I now have enough information for her. So if you could tell whether Benjamin and Joseph Bartrum were born in Somerset then that would be great. Stuart |

Thanks heaps Lorraine, I had Benjamin listed as being born in Bath, but I had a nagging suspicion he was born in Exeter, so knowing he wasn't born in Bath helps a lot. Stuart |

Dear Lorraine Please could you look up masses of people for me in London & Middlesex. Please could you give me the HO reference number too. I'm afraid I have a long list: 1)Arabella Fraser probably at 10 Old Street, Holborn (St Luke's), widow of a coppersmith, born circa 1780-90, possibly with her son Thomas Fraser Wilkins b 1811 and maybe a daughter Grace b 1821. 2)William Pickford Wilkins b 1819 Finsbury ( son of Arabella) also a coppersmith possibly in 10 Old Street. 3)Mary Ann England b 1820 Holborn who married the above WPW in Dec 1841 in Bermondsey but who isn't in Dockhead, Bermondsey in 1841 because some other kind person (Sue) checked it out for me. 4) Thomas (b 1794 Spitalfields/ Clerkenwell a broker) and Mary Ann Stanley (b 1797 St Sephulcres) were at St Georges Terrace, Islington parish of St Marys or Trinity in 1851. Children John 1824, Charlotte 1826, Phoebe 1828, William 1830, possibly Thomas 1830-5, Mary Ann 1837 and Emily 1838. 5)John Stanley (their son) b 1824 Holborn was a grocer in later life so could be a shopkeeper's assistant That's my lot ! If you are able and willing please may I send a list of my husband's London ancestors to you in the future. Many thanks Felicity Sanderson |
