Hi Zoe thanks for the offer of help. My mystery involves a missing rellie.... I am searching for a George Alfred Owen. Born abt. 1816 New Gate Street Saint Andrew Holborn Christened 17/11/1816. Parents Thomas Owen and Amelia Plank. Amelias Death cert gives George as Informant living withThomas and previously Amelia at 15 Charles Place Shadwell in January 1851. By the time the census happened on 31/3/1851 another family is living there and there is no sign of George or Thomas anywhere on the 1851 census. Thomas was born abt. 1774 and was an Engraver by trade. Thank you for any time you may give in trying to find him for me. Rachel |

A family in 1851: Joseph Eveson head greengrocer 26 London, Smithfield (my ggg-) Eliza Elizabeth Eveson wife 27 Bath, Somerset (my ggg-) Joseph Eveson son 1 Surrey, Christchurch (my gg-) Susan Beale Wife's Mother 66 former laundress Bath Somerset (my gggg-) I can't find them in 1861. Joseph (the son) appears again in 1871, married. Where on earth are they in 1861????? It's driving me mad. They're hidden somewhere with a mistranscription.... I'll mail you a Mars bar if you find any of them in 1861 :o) Alan |

John The spelling error is nothing much to worry about if all else fits..I have had various weird spellings of names in my tree on census! Lots of people couldn't read or write so someone else wrote it and spelt it how they thought it should be!~that's why ther are many spelling errors with peoples ancestors! I will check over the next few days to see if there is a Frederck Read of that birth place and year in previous censuses.. It seems too right to be wrong!! Zoe |

I have a very long standing mystery that I have almost given up resolving. I cannot find any trace of birth details for my late husband`s mother. Her name was stated to be BLANCHE EILEEN MITCHELL age 21 in 1913 when she married. She stated her father to be John Mitchell a Sgt Major in the Cameron Highlanders. I have tried all known sources searching for her birth, but without success. Also have been unable to trace her father as having been in the Cameron Highlanders. Should anyone solve this mystery, they will have my undying thanks and appreciation. My son is desperate to know just who his paternal grandmother was and learn about her family. |

Jean Haven't I looked for this before as I said it seems he was born out of wedlock as his fathers surname is different to his.. So it kind of his a dead end if you don't have any info other than a name and occupation! Sorry about that Zoe |
