Hi Lesley, I could not have done better if I had tried!!! O.K. there are 2 Robert Howland circa 1841 Yorkshire. 2 get married in Dec Q 1864, 1st in Burton Agnes (Registration district Bridlington) and 2nd in Malton. From IGI the Burton Agnes spouse is Mary Anne Taylor but the other I do not know. If you can find either Robert (or even both) in 1871 this should help me establish which is the correct ancestor. I think one of them marries again in Scarborough in 1876 - and you think you are confused!! Does that make it as clear as mud? Frances |

Hi Lesley, I have just come across two marriages in 'View images' FreeBMD for Robert Howland in the Dec Q 1864. One tallies with an entry in IGI for Burton Agnes (Bridlington) and the other looks like Malton. My query is are you able to find this 'Malton Robert' in 1871 please. I know that this is not much to go on but I am sure you enjoy a challenge? Many thanks, Frances |

hi lesley so many thanks for finding the surname of emma's mum. it really is great to fill in that piece of the puzzle, but i was wondering if you ever did find the 1901 census record for EMMA DUNN, born 1871 in crewe, cheshire. i think she may have married HENRY ARTHUR BROOKS in june quarter of 1893, in lambeth, london, and i am especially wanting to work out if i am right or if i have made an utter mistake. really, you have been a star with these lookups ;) THANKS A MILLION scott |

Hi Thanks for the offer. RIght here goes, My grandfather was a thomas patrick frederick staveley born 1920 bermondsy. (although some army records state 1919), so far i cant find his birth registered anywhere. His mothers maiden name was styles or stiles we believe, and she died ealry on in my grandfather life, this unfortunately is all we know about her. His dad is Thomas Frederick Staveley (although on my grandfathers army records he is names as TF Johnson Staveley !?!) he died appox 1966? somewhere in England. Sorry i know this is a long shot! My grandfather had 4 siblings Ann, Eileen, Johnny and James(jimmy) all younger than my grandfather. Any information you could provide would be more than appreciated as my grandfather has provided me with a real mystery! Thanks for your time. Jane |

Just Arthur please Lesley. He's the one I've never met as he died some years ago. I know all about the other children from the marriage. Just a thought, but I suppose there was a slim chance he was christened Lawrence...........but I'm not absolutely sure of that, so stick with Arthur!!!!!! PS. My internet connection is playing up so that's why I'm a bit late getting back to you! |
