Hi Lesley Hope you had a good sleep! RE: BENDALL That is the right birth registration - I have the certificate. She was born 27/12/1868 but not registered until Feb 1869! I can't find her on 1881 either but I know she was alive and kicking then and didn't get married until 1889. Why do my ancestors seem to be so elusive (all on my Dad's side as well, Mum's lot are much easier to find! Thanks for trying. Just had a thought - could the B have been misread, maybe an R if the bottom line wasn't clear. I'm off to hunt on the 1881. Regards Louise |

Bernard | Report | 23 Mar 2006 21:29 |
Hello Lesley, Here is another family mystery (Bernard's wife this time). 1851 census, Jane Heselton (various ways of spelling), age 3, living with grandparents Matthew and Jane Heselton at Horton in Ribblesdale, Yorks W.R., born Kettlewell, also Yorks W.R.. Still living with grandparents in 1871, same address. In 1881 she was a servant, living at Slatenber, Ingleton, Yorks W.R. with her uncle Thomas Heselton (son of Matthew and Jane) and his wife, place of birth given as Horton in Ribblesdale. Please can you help in finding her parentage? Best wishes, Kath |
