I have a hunch the 1851 find is right but now I can't find them in 1861. Arghhh

Lynn Have you checked Ancestry Beta, quarter by quarter? I have had a quick look at 1847 and 1848, and there are a few William Edge's you could cross reference with Ann Walker. Suzy

I have just checked Ann juniors marriage and there is an Emily Edge as a witness....don't know relation - perhaps sister or aunt. There is no reference to her father william's profession

This looks likely because in 1871 census, when their daughter ann is married it says she is from Hankelow, cheshire (it is the only one that does). All i can think is their marriage has not been transcribed on to BMD and I shall have to through each quarter. Lynn

The birth cert defo says William is her father. All I can think is that they are not from cheshire Lynn

now......... i know this one is slightly late, BUT this also happened to me, my gg grandparents married 20 after the children were born, on all census wife was married name, but it was all a lie !!!!! what happens in the 1851 census? can you see the parents there - are they married then?

I have the birth certificate of Ann Edge who was born in 1851 in Hatherton, in sub district of Wybubbury, in the registration district of Nantwich in the County of Chester. Ann Edge stays in cheshire for the rest of her life. The problem is I CAN'T FIND her parents marriage certificate. Their names are WILLIAM EDGE and ANN WALKER.
