Hi Jane. I am looking for the names of the children of James Hobbs and Mary Hickmott. James was 45 and Mary was 33 in 1861 census index. There was 12 children and i have got 4 Charlotte 1858, Rose 1861, Harry 1866, ada ? i do hope you can help as i canot found the rest, Charlotte Hobbs married Edward Dann on 25-11-1876. Hello Jane, Can you help on the 1841 I have a Wiiliam Carter age 50, Sprit Merchant,N, Wife Mary Carter 25, Y, dau Mary Carter 3, Y, dau Elizabeth,9 months,Y. Ellen Scott Female Servant 15,Y living at Church Street,Sunderland HO107/321/10/27. I can't find the family on 1851 census can you have a look for them please. I know that William was dead by 1857 when his daughter Mary Carter married as her marriage cert says William Carter Spirit Merchant deceased. She was living at Florriden or Torriden Street Bishopwearmouth at that time. It is possible that Mary the wife aged now 35 (Mary Wilde) before marriage to William Carter remarried as the age gap between William & Mary was huge. Maybe Mary age 35 living at Florriden/Torriden Street or Bishopwearmouth in 1851 with daughter Mary 13,Daughter Elizabeth 10. Could you please look for me I would appreciate some help. Just a thought someone contacted me on hot matches to say they had a Mary Wild born South Hylton (my Mary Wild was also born South Hylton) married to a James in 1841 this could be after the census if William died as early as 1841 what do you think? Hi Jenny, i can't find your Carters in 1851 either......... think its possible that Mary did remarry after Williams death, and girls have taken new surname too, doesn't help not knowing exact age for William & Mary as 1841 census rounded adults ages to the nearest 5. sorry i've been useless to you.................... No Jane, thanks for trying, would it help looking for 10 yr old Elizabeth or 13 year old Mary. Don't suppose so as both names are quite common. Was there a Mary born South Hylton about 1819 with a James with children of this age all born Bishopwearmouth,Sunderland? Best wishes Jenny

Jenny, sorry had another look........ but nothing !! i had checked the 2 girls before i admitted defeat yesterday, and still couldn't get them. i have checked them all again..... with a no surname search, but still nothing close. did check for James Wild too, but no children with him, although his wife is named Mary but she's not from South Hylton either.......... sorry, i don't give up easily i can tell you !!!
