Hi Anne I am looking to find the parents of Robert McKerrow c 1860 Stranraer. He married twice first one Sarah Kirk 2nd one Jeannie Glover. I have an address for him as Damhouse Kirkolm near Stranraer. Trouble is I dont know which years he married but hoping he may be at his parents home 1881. So if you could find that one please would be a great help to add on to my branches. When I have been searching the english 1881 I fond that their name is Robert Mc Kerrow with a space between the Mc and Kerrow. Maybe the way the enumerator wrote it down or the transcribers. Thanks GLoria |

Thank you Anne I was just of to bed when I got your message. Thanks for looking and I will catch up with it all tomorrow. I was trawling through the 1881 english census and it seems they are transcribed as Mc Kerrow. Has to be a space otherwise they dont show up. Dont know if that is the way it is written on the census forms or transcribed like it. GLoria |

Hi Gloria I would need more information for John Duncan. I looked at Scotlandspeople and you will find the birth certificate for Adeline McKerrow born 1877, Colvend, Kirkudbright, Scotland. You will also find the marriage certificate for John Duncan and Adeline McKerrow 1896, Colvend, Kirkudbright, Scotland. There are only two McKerrow families on the 1881 Scotland Census: - Source: FHL Film 0203590 GRO Ref Volume 578 EnumDist 12 Page 25 Dwelling: Miller Road 2 Wellpark Place Census Place: Ayr, Ayr, Scotland Marr Age Sex Birthplace Jane MCKEENE W 58 F Cumnock, Ayr, Scotland Rel: Head Occ: Annuitant Gavin MCKERROW U 63 M Cumnock, Ayr, Scotland Rel: Brother Occ: Accountant Sarah MCKERROW U 55 F Cumnock, Ayr, Scotland Rel: Sister Occ: Annuitant Marion CALDWELL U 21 F Muirkirk, Ayr, Scotland Rel: Servant Occ: Genl Servt Domestic Source: FHL Film 0203599 GRO Ref Volume 595 EnumDist 7 Page 6 Dwelling: 20 Railway Cottage Census Place: Dundonald, Ayr, Scotland Marr Age Sex Birthplace Hugh MCKERROW U 29 M New Cummock, Ayr, Scotland Rel: Head Occ: Railway Agent Mary MCKERROW U 32 F New Cummock, Ayr, Scotland Rel: Sister Occ: House Keeper James MCKERROW U 24 M New Cummock, Ayr, Scotland Rel: Brother Occ: Railway Clerk David MCKERROW U 22 M New Cummock, Ayr, Scotland Rel: Brother Occ: Engineer Labourer Anne |

Thanks for offer Anne. I havn't had to use Scottish census before, this is a bit of a long shot and hopefully details aren't too vague. DUNCAN MC KAY born c 1847 in Oban Scotland, his son JAMES MC KAY born c 1873 in Liverpool Duncan's wife was born Liverpool and possibly called Margaret or Jessie. No trace of them on english census so wondering if they could be in scotland - maybe as visitors. Thanks for any help you can give. |

Thankyou very much Anne ...looks like my g grandad came from Pittenweem then...unless any more David Eadies turn up... if its true that he married Janet Brown about 1852...would explain why I can't find a marriage with Ann in London who he started a large family with about 1864... I will leave you in peace now and follow up David Eadie on the Pittenweem 1841 1851 1861 census. appreciate all your help....thanks again Hetty |
