hi there i am looking for information on john and Mary ridley nee ferns not sure of date of birth or death john was a labourer and i know they had a son George possibly born around 1891 give or take a few years George married Bernadette hughs in 1925 if u could help i would be grateful thanks p.s would have been from Glasgow

Hi Ann, Thank you for your offer - if you're not completely fed up with doing all these look ups please could you see if you can find BENTHAM SIMPSON, b 1819 Oswaldkirk(down as Helmsley in 1891 census), Yorkshire. His wife died in 1878 and no one can find him anywhere in 1881 in England, but in 1891 he is a lodger with his brother-in-laws wife! Just wondered if he went up to Scotland in 1881, if not then i think there must have been an enumerators error or something. He was a school teacher. Thanks Carolyn

Hello Anne--I'd be grateful if you would kindly look up my grandmother for me please. Her name was JANE HIGGINS and she was born c1874. She came from Glasgow and I understand that at some point she lived in Thornliebank, but that might have been after her marriage. Her parents were HUGH HIGGINS and SARAH DARROCH. I don't know much about her husband--GEORGE BALLANTYNE other than he too was born in Glasgow--he was a marine engineer and his father was JOHN BALLANTYNE--I imagine you won't be able to find them for me as not any real information! Hi Anne, Its me again, this is my Ferguson's this time:- I have John Ferguson and Elizabeth Sullivan who married 28th August 1868 In Dundee. I would like to find all the children they had. One of the children was Marsala Ferguson born in 1875 in Dundee. I am also trying to find the children of Marsala Ferguson, she married in July 1897 to James McDonach but the 1901 census only shows her as Head of the house with no children at all and l with her sister Catherine who is also married as her name is now Levey who has a child also called Catherine, Thomas Ferguson her brother is living there too.
