You can also look in the death column in the local paper at the library for a couple of days after the death, as most people put a death notice in the paper and that usually gives the time and place of funeral, and often the name of the undertakers, who might be able to help with place of burial. Jo Anyone who doesn't die in the hospital/or suspicius circumstances has an inquest i think, i may be wrong i am sure someone will correct me if i am. Phone the Hospital where your dad died and ask for the local coroners office telephone number, they may be a bit more helpful. Especially as you have the date of the inquest etc I am looking to see if Gertrude married again. and please forgive my spelling it's late :o) |

Joanne An inquest is an inquiry about why something happened (in your dad's case, why the accident happened and if it was anyone's fault). If I were you I would get in touch with the nearest large library to where the death occured as they will have copies of the local newspapers from that time on film. I managed to get the newspaper report of my great grandfathers accident in which he died. Kath. x |

Is there any chance she may have married again? Also have you just looked for Gertrude P or Patricia G or without the initials added? |

If the coroner was the informant, that just means that there was probably an inquest (if there is an inquest the coroner always registers the death). What was the cause of death given? Was it something (like an accident) that might have been reported in the local newspaper at the time? Kath. x |

JOanne As you are your fathers next of kin (unless you have older brother/sister) you can apply for your fathers medical records, and to the coroner for the report on his death. I am in the process of doing this with my Grandfather. They should in theory send you out some forms to fill in etc. My Grandfather died in 76 and they say they still have records going that far back so the chances are they have your dad's Kath x |

Hi Do you have the death cert for your Father? Who registered his death, was it a family member? If so then more than likely that member of the family will know where he was buried/cremated. Kath |
