I'm tired now and my hands are freezing. This is what I see. We have; FACTS 1. Kathleen C W Williams marrying Stanley Victor Busby in 1935. 2. Kathleen d.o.b. 15.07.1912 3. Three daughters to this couple, Sheila E Busby mmn Williams 1937; Jean M Busby mmn Williams or Wolstencroft 1941; Janet Katherine mmn Williams 1954. Q. Why is Jean Busby given two mmn ? Q.Does the W in her mothers name stand for Wolstencroft ? Send for marriage certificate of Stanley and Kathleen 1935. This will give the names of the fathers. Also it may explain the W. Oh gosh sorry, I knew I shouldn't have started helping.....it was her death that I found as KATHERINE, and not her birth (see my reply at the top of page 3 of this thread). I'm really sorry :((

Yes we have found Kathleen's birth lol! She's registered as KATHERINE C Williams (and it would make sense that the extra 'W' stands for Wolstoncroft). I've checked marriages from 1928 (when she would have been 16) right up to 1934, the year before she married Busby. So I think we can rule out my previous suggestion of Katherine having been married previously to a Wolstoncroft, and the previous reply (was it Kath, sorry?) about Katherine's mother having been married to a Wolstoncroft more likely. yes thats the conclusion that we all came to at home Which means that my granny was Katherine charlotte wolstonecroft williams!!!! where did you find her birth coz that will give us her mums maiden name

YES i think u are right Katherine is Kathleen Charlotte wolstoncroft williams I think her mum married twice but we cant find kathleens birth............yet

Ok, this is what I think (and something similar has been said on the Tips board thread): - Born Katherine C Williams - Got married to a Wolstoncroft, divorced or widowed and went back to maiden name of Williams - Married for second time to Busby, perhaps he didn't know of her first marriage - Mr Busby registered the births of Sheilah and Janet, and just gave mother's maiden name of Williams, as that's all he knew - Katherine herself registered Jean's birth and was honest enought to tell the registrar that she'd also been known as Wolstoncroft Therefore we look for a Williams-Wolstoncroft marriage before 1935. How does that sound? Mandy :)

Perhaps Katherine C. Williams didn't marry a Wolstoncroft, but HER mother did at some point after Katherine's birth, and Katherine took on his name and was known by both names at different times. Really do have to go to bed now, but will check the thread tomorrow. Kath. x

I'm ploughing through right now, give me a few minutes so that I can cross-check any I find. At least we know that the vicar was a bit batty because he put her on the marriage cert as Kathleen when she was born Katherine lol! Mandy :)

Sorry CZ, I've confused everything! Just looked again at deaths and found her under Katherine Charlotte, not Kathleen Charlotte. It was May 2003, Ealing, and yes her date of birth was 15 July 1912. However, as has been mentioned before, the person registering her death could easily have got her year of birth wrong (my own grandma's is a year out). Mandy :)

yes Mandy thats one of the problems she shouted at people that her name was KATHERINE but as we now know .............she was bats But that isnt helpping us is it
