Hi There, I had the wrong info when i first posted. my grandfather is called MONTAGUE JORDAN and his father was also called MONTAGUE JORDAN. Now i've been told it is either Australia of New Zealand he was born, I have found info for a MJ in Tasmania, and although the dates look like they fit, showing it to the rest of my family it seems it doesnt. My father has a feeling Montague 2 was born in new zealand, but i'm not sure how to look up the info. He was also a leuitent in the army and was killed in WW1. I hope you can help! Kind regards Beckie x |

Hi Rebecca The only Montague I can see is one I think you found, born in Hagley Tasmania. Montague Royal JORDAN, b. 27 Nov 1896, father's name Clarence of Launceston. He was single at the time of his enlistment in 1918 and occupation was painter. He had fair skin, blue eyes and auburn hair. You can get a copy of this dossier from National Archives RecordSearch. No marriage found in NSW or Vic, so maybe Tassie is the place to look? Or NZ? Sorry, Good luck Cherilyn |

Hi Cherilyn Thanks for your very kind offer of look ups and I wonder if you could have a look for a Sarah Ann Coles born approx 1853 in Jersey, Channel Islands. On the LDS site there is mention of a Sarah Ann Coles born 1853 in Guernsey, not Jersey, Channel Islands, marrying David Hooker in 1871 in Patricks Plains New South Wales. Unfortunately the item is member submitted so I’m not sure whether the information is correct or whether she is the lady that I’m looking for. Incidentally in 1861 she is still living in Jersey, Channel Islands. Thank you so much. Marion |

HI Marion I can confirm the marriage did take place in 1871 in Patricks Plain NSW, reg 3269. The certificate would tell you if this is your Sarah. They had 14 children; the first 8 were born in Patricks Plain and the rest in Singleton, NSW. They were: 16756/1873 HOOKER DAVID JOHN (d. 1899/13386) 17499/1874 HOOKER GEORGE THOMAS (d. 1957/18406) 18546/1876 HOOKER LILLIAN R (d. 1949/2703 as SCHOLES) 20231/1878 HOOKER ETHEL M 22306/1880 HOOKER PERCIVAL DANIEL (d. 1954/28899) 26612/1882 HOOKER ERNEST TAYLOR (d. 1955/27442) 30605/1884 HOOKER BERTHA AMY (d. 1954/16970 as ALLEN) 32473/1886 HOOKER MARION MAY (d.1965/29030 as EVANS) 34255/1888 HOOKER RUBY H 31567/1890 HOOKER ATHOL D 32483/1893 HOOKER CECIL SINGELTON (d. 1965/3039) 36786/1895 HOOKER HAROLD T (d. 1946/3039) 25631/1898 HOOKER BESSIE L 34855/1899 HOOKER DAVID K One of the children's deaths shows Sarah as Sarah Ann Jane Louisa. There is a death for a Sarah A J L W HOOKER in Singleton in 1915 (reg 11074), father Thomas and mother Rachel. This should either confirm or disprove the connection. If there is a link, I have more info on David HOOKER's birth/death if you are interested. Cheers Cherilyn |

Hello, Thank you for your offer. I am looking for VIC deaths of: Woods - John ( bn c 1820 England) Woods - Alice ( bn c 1831 Ireland) Their deaths would have been after 1860. John & Alice Woods lived mostly in NSW. I haven't been able to locate their deaths in NSW, so I thought VIC would be the next likely place. Thank you in advance. Regards, Lyn. |

Hi, I'm investigating the death in WWII of pilot Rowland Telford Ward of 6 Brassie St, North Bondi, son of Edwin and Emily Ward. I want to contact any surviving family members but don't know whether Rowland had any brothers or sisters. Would your records help with this? Emily Ward died in 1968 in the Kogarah district (ref 30210), would her death certificate give any details of NOK? Thanks in advance for any fragments of info! Max Williams Portland, Dorset, England |

Hi Max Yes Emily's death certificate would be your best bet. It should say all children born to her as well as spouse's details, and of course date/time/cause of death and burial details as well as the informant's details. Aussie death certificate's are very useful! :-) You can order it from the web site www*bdm*nsw*gov*au Good luck Cherilyn |

Sean Do you know Alice's maiden name? Don't like my chances with a common name like John WOOD! But with a maiden name I might find Alice, which could help find John (if they died in the same area). Cheers Cherilyn |
