Hi Rose. I have ancestors who's ages have been off on the census, so it doesn't surprise me that Sarah's age is not what I expected. I've wondered about the age difference between Dora and her sister - perhaps the age in 1911 is her real age (rather than 6 or 7 year's difference that shows on the 1901). Thank you for finding the 1911. My dad's family (Mumfords) were very family-oriented yet I never heard him mention Sarah Stuart. Perhaps she died well before his birth. Talking this over with you has just given me a new lead. I've never searched for her burial. If I can find that, I might find their parents. (A lot of my ancestors were buried in the same cemetery.) Thank you very much for your help. |

Thank you very much, Rose. Any help is appreciated. I believe I've given you all of the information I know. Thank you again. (Others have looked for the parents' deaths, but they haven't been found.) |

Hi Rose, thank you very much. I don't know anything about the parents. Dora Emmeline's death certificate states her parent's names and they were both born in Ireland. Dora's marriage information (married William Richard Vaus Mumford in 1888) states her parents names and Dora's birthplace of Lambton Mills, Ontario. 1881(?) census shows Sarah 'Stewart', born 1855/56, was living with Dora and her family. So, assuming Sarah was her sister. I don't know anything else about the parents and I'm guessing they were born around 1830's. I am fairly certain the last name was spelled Stuart, as that spelling was handed down to my dad's uncle AND aunt! (Ethel Stuart Mumford!) I was hoping James might be on the 1851 census, as I can't find anything out about James or Sarah. Thank you so much for your help. |

Lisa, Are you expecting them to be married by 1851? Not sure if I'm looking for a couple or two separate people. Rose |
