Rose, I've spent the evening trying to find information, checking Ontario Cemetery Finding Aid, Ontario Marriages, Canadian Government Archives, etc. (No luck so far.) Thank you so much for your continued help. :) I actually did see the Curzon's in 1901 and things are starting to fall into place. I remember my aunt mentioning the Curzon's as 'cousins', with hesitation. Perhaps they were regarded as cousins, as they were Dora's nieces. My aunt's aunts and uncles were Annie Caroline, Ethel Stuart, Emily Vaus (died around age 2), Fred Eric(?), James Stuart and William Richard Vaus. The family had a very strict tradition of naming children after relatives. We don't have any Eric's, that I can find. Perhaps Fred Eric was named after someone on the Curzon side. Lastly, all three of Dora's sons named their sons James: James Ernest, James E. and James Stuart. Either James Ernest was a popular name back then, or they were named after someone. Thank you so much for all you have done. I can't tell you how thrilled I am. |

Rose, for Sarah's death certificate it states her parents were born in Sligo, Ireland. I'm wondering if it might be the town or county of Sligo? Would you know please if the Ontario deaths listed general areas, or exact towns? Also, apparently, Dora WAS known as Emma/Emily. I remembered this from the IGI: Father: William Richard Mumford Mother: Emily Stuart Child: Emily Voss Mumford Birth: 24 JUN 1889 Toronto, York, Ontario |

Hi Lisa, Sorry, I don't know if it's the county or the town. Looking at other deaths it really depends. Rose |

Thank you Rose. At least it's better than just some place in Ireland, eh? I may have missed it, but I didn't notice anything for James or Sarah's death. If I might trouble you again, may I ask if you can search for their deaths, when you are free again? Thank you for all of your help! |

There are lots of deaths so I limited myself to looking for ones in York county. Nothing for Sarah but there's might be James: Name: James Stewart Death Date: 16 May 1878 Death Location: York Gender: Male Estimated birth year: abt 1806 Birth Location: Ireland Co. Sligo The index starts are 1869 so they could have died before that. Depending on the year, sometimes and informant and a place of birth is listed. Sometimes the info. is very sparse. Rose |

Thank you very much, Rose. I appreciate all that you have done. I'm looking forward to continuing my search of Ontario websites and if I don't find anything, I still have all of the information you found. Best of luck with your own searches. |

Rose, in case you are about...thought you might be interested. I haven't triple-checked yet but it looks like this is about Rebecca Stuart-Curzon's mother-in-law: 'Born outside of Birmingham in 1833, into the provincial English middle-class, Curzon was the daughter of George Philips Vincent, a glass manufacturer...In 1858 she married Norfolk-born Robert Curzon and sometime between 1862 and 1864, immigrated with her husband and first born son Robert Jr., to Toronto...With a still reasonably young family of three sons and a daughter, continually moving from one rented dwelling to the next – her husband was a bookkeeper, a coffee and pickle manufacturer, and starting with 1877 a clerk/treasurer in the City Hall...' In addition to this article, she is also mentioned in a book which includes her photograph. Although she is not related to me, it is still fascinating reading. |
