To Wendy FOWLER, Birth certificates will not use the word 'nee' they will say 'formerly' instead. So under 'Mothers' name, if it says Mary Brown formerly Smith it means that her married name is Brown and that her maiden name is Smith. If, on the otherhand it said something like: Mary Brown late Jones formerly Smith, it means that she has married twice - the first time to some chap called Jones, and currently to a Mr Brown. Hope that makes sence. Best wishes, Simon. |
