Hi all, yes I am still searching but at present it's on hold as I've been in touch with a lady that could hold the info I'm looking for as she is looking into something else regarding a distant relative through my gran Doris Fitton(nee Wild). But she has told me that George Stevens has a middle name which is Bates, he may have been born in Brighton, he married Anslow Matilda in Salford 1878 & he died Oct 1938 which makes him about 93 when he died. He is buried at Southern Cemetery. He is buried with Anslow Matilda who died in 1917, Albert George Stevens who died in 1932. Not sure who Albert is at present. When she has finished everything she is doing then she will be sending me a copy of the family tree so I will have all info. Thanks everyone |

Hi everyone, thanks for all the info you have put here. My info came to me by my cousin who lives in Blackpool. I have no idea where he got the info from. Also I heard or found somewhere that George Stevens committed suicide. I don't know if this is true. He may have also been married before marrying Matilda Anslow , this I have no idea. I do know that he was a painter. Matilda Stevens is my Great Great Gran & their daughter, Matilda is my Great Gran. Thanks for all the help Paula |

Have sent a pm in case they don't realise that you don't get any notification of responses. |

Actually the OP posted it in 2007 then bumped it yesterday. Maybe he'll wait another 5 years before responding? |

Well I have to leave it now for a while. Hopefully the OP will get the marriage certificate and give us George's fathers name and occupation if he knew it. From the different birth places he gives and dates it may be that he didn't live with his family. |

I think this is the correct 1881 (Croydon again!) |

Margee, the 1901 that you posted where it says he was born in Croydon is definitely the same family as the 1911 that I've posted, but I think your others are different family. |

Oops the 91 census that Astra posted seems to be the right family but the children all match the 1901 census that I posted with parents George & Matilda and George born Croydon. |
