Oh I see I'm sorry Rootgatherer, i was getting muddled. I thought Edward and Frank were brothers. I will load all of this into my tree over the next few days, then I think it will become clearer... Then we will just have to wait until Cyrils birth certificate verifies things... Otherwise i will have to do some winter pruning.....!

no its still not turned up.... the (estimated) despatch date was the 31st so it should have arrived.... I had a look at the order receipt & there is no 'return' e-mail address or phone number to call for enquiries so it seems as if we'll just have to wait!

Have any of you experts got any bright ideas.... I have a short version of his certificate... so I know the dates are correct...
Cyril Henry Gunter, born; 14/9/07, birth registered 8/10/07, entry number 423, book 13, registrar, W.M.Roland. Newport, subdistrict Rogerstown.

I've just tried again to re-order his certificate, adding his (assumed) fathers name as John Arthur & his mothers name as Florence Palmer.
Perhaps that will help them find something ?
I'm also not sure, but on their response they seem to have his registration date down as his birth date.... I wonder if i filled in the correct birthdate on the first application..?

Anyway, the estimated despatch date for this one is the 4th of Feb. - So we shall see.

Ian, if you are ordering from the GRO you only need to give the name, year, volume number and page number. You don't need to give any information about his parents.

Thats what i thought Rootgatherer, and what i did last time, but when i tried again today, there were questions about his parents names, - so i tried that just incase it might make a difference??? - I could not see any where on the on-line form to type in the Volume or page number ?

I think, from memory Ian, there is a bit that asks if you have a reference number or something like that. When you click on that , it takes you to a page asking for the volume number and page number.

I'm sure someone with more experience in ordering English certificates will tell us if I'm wrong. Apart from my husband's Granny and a couple of my lot that defected, most of my research has been Scottish and further back Irish.
