Bryan Report 23 Jan 2003 15:05

Dianne Minifie Egan, wife of Bryan Goodwin, her Dad was Harry Egan, born in Walsall, Grandfather Frederick Mortimer Egan, Gt.Grandfather John Edward Egan, claimed to be a Cockney, but since discovered he was born in Northampton, and only his younger Brothers and Sisters were Cockneys. His father was Mortimer Egan, now discovered he was born 1818 in Castle Hedingham, son of Michael and Ann Egan.No idea where they came from, but possible Michael was a Discharged Soldier from Wellingtons Army. Don't know if he was related to the son of Bartholomew Egan and Ellen Farrel, who was baptised at Newport, Hampshire in 1824, where the Priest spelt his name 'Mauritimea'....possbly his attempt at 'Latinising ' the name Mortimer, as was the tradition in the old days....trying to trace where he came from, probably Ireland..but when and where ? Are you related?
