The name Benns comes from the Norfolk / Suffolk area, where you will still find many of them 'clustered'. I believe it comes from an old East Anglian dialect nickname meaning 'Big Bottom'. Hello to any Benns relatives. You always wanted that tit-bit of information made public, didn't you? ;-) Seriously though, anyone with the name Benns in their family history please get in touch. We are rare and probably related! :-) |
