The death cert for Doreen could possibly unlock some of the ‘doors’. It will give her maiden name, and you could then look for the probable child. I know - obviously - the apparent difference in birth years, but that may be simply an error on someone’s part |

Erika the medal was found on the Thames foreshore. The top bit was broken off where the ribbon goes but apart from that it was in good condition. |

Re changing the service number. If I remember this correctly - I think regular soldiers had a short number which was eventually changed to the new longer number that was brought in so it matched with the new ‘recruits’. |
